There are 2 types of aircraft air compressors: air transportable compressor and portable air compressor. The air transportable compressor has been specifically designed for quick and reliable air supply during aircraft recovery operations. The Air Transportable Compressor consists of both an air compressor and eight high pressure storage cylinders.
These storage cylinders provide an immediate supply of high-pressure air in order to speed up the recovery process. The combination of an air compressor and storage cylinders makes the system very reliable. Even in the unlikely scenario where the air compressor fails to work, air supply is guaranteed through the stored air.
The portable air compressor comes with two types; 7 bar and 10 bar. The oil-cooled DEUTZ diesel engine with built in governor provides the most efficient operation and the minimum noise level. The compressor complies with COM III emissions requirements. The engine and the powerful electric starter system consisting of an alternator, battery and voltage regulator always guarantee problem-free starting. No waste of time over a hard-to-start or frozen up compressor. The transparent, corrosion free fuel tank, provides a continuous check of the contents by eye and there is always the possibility of working on for several hours at full load without interruption.
This provides the benefits of:
- Minimum noise level
- Better resistance to frost
- Highest efficiency
- High reliability
A centrifugal oil separator is being used, combined with a filter element for the compressed air and a calibrated air outlet from the compressor element, which guarantees optimum lubrication. Hence the oil reservoir is also fitted as standard with an oil drain plug and a safety valve.
The automatic compressed air blow-off valve ensures that the residual pressure disappears when the machine is stopped. The integrated aluminium oil cooler with axial fan ensures optimum cooling and, to complete the picture, the standard equipment of every compressor includes the oil drain tube oil filter. All this makes to possible to carry out day-to-day maintenance on site in order to get the maximum out of the compressor and compressed air tools.
This results in:
- Extended life
- Improved safety
- No unnecessary moving around for simple maintenance operations
Unique Features
Air Transportable Compressor Provides:
- Air supply of 3200 liters per minute at 10 bar
- Stored air volume in 8 storage cylinders at 300 bar at 120.000 cbm
- Battery powered heating system for low temperature operation which increases the operating pressure to -25°C
- Mounted on standard PLA pallet to be fully air transportable.
While the portable air compressor features include:
Control panel
All the controls and instruments are grouped on a single neatly arranged instrument panel.
The panel's location above the outlet valves means that the whole thing is guaranteed to be safe and easy to read and allows any problems to be pinned down quickly. Each panel is equipped with an hour meter, a working pressure gauge, warning lamps for both engine and compressor and a test-button. The electrical circuitry of the panel can be isolated by means of a circuit breaker mounted under the enclosure. The red starter button with a yellow background also acts as an emergency top.
Soundproof Bodywork
The compressor can be delivered with a metallic canopy. This canopy protects all the component of the compressor and comply with all regulations related to noise emission. It is made with zinc protected metal sheet covered with a powdered paint which prevent corrosion at long terms.
The hood is fitted with twin gas struts and the side panels and baffles are simple to remove and give easy access to all components for maintenance. A lifting eye located inside the canopy is protected with a small door that can be unlocked through inside the canopy.
